JAMMU, May 25: J&K’s only Women’s Premier League (WPL) player and talented opening batter, Jasia Akhter sparkled in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League, being played at Dhaka in Bangladesh.

Representing Mohammedan Sporting Club, Jasia scored a magnificent century and two half-centuries in the three matches she has played so far in this league.

Jasia scored 102 runs 69 balls in the first match played on May 17, 2024 against Jabid Ahsan Sohel Cricket Club Women’s Cricket Team and followed it with unbeaten 52 runs off 33 balls in her second match on May 20.

While continuing her batting brilliance, Jasia scored 75 runs off just 41 balls in the third match of Mohammedan Sporting Club on May 23, 2024 against Gulshan Youth Club Women’s Cricket Team.

It is pertinent to mention here that Jasia apart from being the only cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to be part of the prestigious WPL, has the distinction of representing J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand in the Senior Women’s Tournaments, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Jasia has done remarkably well for all the State teams she has represented at the national scene.

As a team member, Jasia  has the honour of guiding Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand to the knockouts and even to semifinals and the finals in different formats of BCCI’s Senior Women’s Tournaments.

Now, Jasia has again decided to play for her home team for the 2024-25 season. Her home comming will surely boost the morale of J&K team.
