JAMMU, Jan 21: Jashan-e-Virasat was celebrated with great favour and enthusiasm at GGM Science College, here today.
Earlier, Rama Pandey, CEO Montage Films, Dr NK Resutra, Nodal Principal and Prof Hemla Aggarwal, Principal GCW Parade welcomed the chief guest, Dr KS Rao, Union Minister, Textile Industry GoI.
Other Special guests on the occasion were Illa Arun, renowned Singer and Zohra Chatterji, Secretary Textile Industry GoI.
The programme started with cultural programme in which about 14 Govt Degree Colleges participated. The colourful folk dances and the melodious folk songs enthralled the audience.
The three renowned dignitaries–CD Mangotra, Bashir Mastana and Dhian Singh who have contributed in preserving the heritage of the state were honoured with Virasat Shree.
The Sanskrit Raghunath Library was also honored with Virasat Shree for being the oldest asset to preserve Literature.
The chief guest and other dignitaries along with judges visited the various stalls put up by the Colleges depicting cultural heritage.
Traditional cuisine Slogan Writing, Chazza Toran and banner prepared with the traditional concepts were displayed in the stall.
In the valedictory function, Kuldeep Khoda, Chief Vigilance Commissioner was the chief guest and Illa Arun presided  over the function.
Special Trophies were given to GDC Udhampur and GGM Science College.
The Virasat Trophy was handed over to the winners Government College for Women, Parade for the second time.
