Jammu’s deaf Judokas shine in Nat’l

JAMMU, Mar 29: The J&K Deaf Judo team has won three gold medals, one silver and three bronze at the 10th National Deaf Judo Championship held at Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.
The Judokas who bagged the gold medal in senior are Shikha Kumari (below 52 kg) category, Nabeel Ali Dar (below 63 kg) and Gulshan Kumar (below 100kg). All of them are the Alumni of the School for Speech and Hearing Handicapped being run by the J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendre.
In Junior, the Judokas who won the medals are Sonam Chib (silver) in the below 63 kg category and Nidha-ul-Nisa, Garima Misri and Ritesh Singh won silvers in the individual category in different weight categories. Suraj Bhan Singh and Neha Dutta accompanied the team as coach and manager.
President KB Jandial and the members of the Samaj Kalyan Kendra have congratulated the Judokas for winning medals. The three Judokas including Rakesh Singh, Vishal Khajuria and Rakhshinda selected for the National team for Deaflympic which is scheduled to be held at Brazil.
