Jammu to host mega Chess events in July, Aug: Atul

JAMMU, May 11: Crown Sports Trust, under the banner of All J&K Chess Association will organize two All India level Chess events at International Delhi Public School, Bathindi, here.
This was disclosed by Atul Kumar Gupta, President of All J&K Chess Association while addressing media persons at Press Club, here today.
He was accompanied by Baldev Raj and Raj Kumar, General Secretary Crown Trust and Organizing Secretary of both the events.
“Total cash prizes worth Rs 1.60 lakh and trophies will be distributed among the winners of these two events,” Atul informed.
He said the first event ‘Jaiveer Singh Memorial Open FIDE Rating’ will start on July 27, 2019 and finish on July 31, 2019, while the second event is the National Youth Under-25 Chess Championship which will be held at the same venue from August 1 to August 7, 2019, under the banner of All India Chess Federation.
“Both the events are recognized events of All India Chess Federation and also world chess federation for rating purpose. Unrated players can achieve ratings in these events,” Atul added.
“International Arbiter Nitin Shenvi of Maharashtra has been appointed as Chief Arbiter for both the events, who will be supported by 6 Deputy Arbiters including 4 from J&K including Anil Kotwal, Bindu Pathania, Sumit Grover and AR Wani. All the matches will be played as per International Laws of Chess under Swiss System and pairing will be done by Swiss software. J&K players are expected to give good show in both the events considering their recent performances,” Atul further informed.
He said that the Association will continue to keep giving best possible platform to J&K players and hoped to produce International stuff from the State very soon.
It is pertinent to mention here that AJKCA under the Presidentship of  Atul Kumar Gupta has conducted 12  All India level events in J&K, apart from 100 local events.
The players desirous to participate in these events ought to do the AICF registration and event registration well in time as registration will close 15 days before the commencement of the event.
