Jammu, Satwari, Miran Sahib zones register wins in U-14 cricket

JAMMU, May 6: Outplaying their rivals convincing in their respective matches today, the zones of Jammu, Satwari and Miran Sahib qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing District Level Inter-Zonal Under-14 boys cricket tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of its Director General, Navin Agarwal at KC School ground, here.
The matches are being conducted by the panel of experts from the Department of Youth Services and Sports including Veer Ji Bhat (Convener), Anju Gupta, BK Tickoo, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Jagtar Singh, Suresh Singh, Mohd Farooq, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Madan Mohan, Pankaj Sasun, Mukesh Sharma and Satika Sharma.
Earlier, in the first match, Jammu zone defeated Khour zone by a big margin of 54 runs. Batting first, Jammu scored 88 runs in the stipulated 10 overs. Musaif Ajaz top scored with power-packed 33 runs, while Praful Dhar and Rohan Gill contributed 17 and 12 runs to the toal respectively. Rahul claimed one wicket for Khour zone.
In reply, Khour zone was bundled out for a paltry total of 34 runs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 54 runs. Praful Dhar was the pick of the bowlers for Jammu Zone, scalping 2 important wickets, without giving away any run in his 2 overs, while Abhay Tandon claimed one wicket.
In another match, Satwari zone defeated Bhalwal in an easy contest. Batting first, Bhalwal made 44 runs, with Aryan Suvansh top scoring with 17 runs. For Satwari zone, Tabin Iqbal took 2 wickets. Satwari zone, in reply, chased the target in 7.5 overs. Karmanya top scored with unbeaten 12 runs. For Bhalwal zone, Yuvraj took 2 important wickets.
In the third match played today, Miran Sahib zone outplayed Bishnah zone by 13 runs in a close contest. Miran Sahib scored 82 runs, while in reply, Bishnah made 69 runs.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Sukhdev Raj Sharma visited the venue and interacted with the players.
