JAMMU, Aug 26: The districts of Jammu, Poonch and Udhampur clinched titles in Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 boys singles titles in the Inter District Divisional Level Competition of Jammu Division which concluded at MA Stadium and District Police line, Indoor Complex, here.
At Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, the duo of Maanya Bakshi and Ananya Anand emerged winners in Under-14 girls final, defeating their rivals with a convincing margin, while Krishika Mahajan, Arun Dhati and Nupur also blossomed in their respective categories.
At District Police Lines, in Badminton Under-14 boys singles, Jammu beat Samba by 2-0 sets. Vidhan Gour defeated Parv and in doubles Jammu drubs Samba by (21-10, 21-12).Sarmaya and Vidhaan got better of Parv and Shivesh.
In Under-17 boys singles, Poonch got the better of Kathua by 2-0 sets. Amrinder outplayed Ridham by 21-08, 21-06, while in doubles, Poonch defeated Kathua by 21-9, 21-12. Amrinder and Soham beat Bhavya and Antriksh by 21-17, 21-15.
In Under-19 boys singles, Udhampur trounced Jammu by 2-0. Karan thrashed Sarandeep Singh by 21-23, 21-14, 21-12, while in doubles, Jammu outclassed Udhampur. Mohit and Aryan prevailed over Naman and Ritik by 21-14, 21-09.
In Reverse singles, Udhampur defeated Jammu. Ashutosh beat Yashdeep by 24-26, 21-15, 21-17.
In all, 132 boys/girls drawn from six districts of Jammu Division which include Samba, Kathua, Doda, Poonch, Udhampur and the host District Jammu took part in the Competition.
The competition was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services & Sports and under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the organizing secretary of the competition.
Later-on, the prizes were distributed by Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu in a simple and well attended function.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were BK Tikoo, Vishal Bharti and Kamal Singh.
The main objective of the competition is to select the teams for J&K State for further participation at National Level competition 2017.
