JAMMU, Oct 15: District Jammu dominated Day-1 of the State Level Inter-District Basketball Championship, which got underway at M A Stadium, here today.
The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as part of annual calendar of sports activities under the patronage of Jahangir Mir, Director General Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Sukhdev Raj Sharma in a simple function, who while addressing the participants said that sports is an integral part of education and participating in games and sports helps one to be physically and mentally fit.
Earlier, in Basketball Under-14 boys, Jammu District blanked Udhampur by 38-0, while in Under-14 girls, Jammu thrashed Udhampur by 16-0.
In Basketball Under-17 girls, Jammu District outplayed Srinagar by 35-18, while in Under-19 girls, Srinagar trounced Udhampur by 14-0.
The matches were officiated by Vishal Bharti, Sanjay Jamwal, Vaneet, Amit Kalsi, Ravinder Singh, Rajesh Bandral and Mousmi.
