Jammu, May 1: Jammu division selection events for selecting players from Jammu division for forthcoming nationals in 2016-17 started here at Ace Chess Academy, Trikuta Nagar today.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association and Joint Secretary, All India Chess Federation inaugurated the events.
The events are being organized by Jammu District Chess Association. Senior open events were played today, wherein Ritwan Sauntra emerged winner with 4 wins and one draw scoring 4.5 points.
Three players tied for 2nd place with 4 points each and with buckloz tie break system, the second place went to Sumit Grover, while the third place went to Arushi Kotwal. The 4th and 5th places were bagged by Maxim Singh and Soham Kamotra.
Other age category events will start tomorrow. The events will be conducted in all the age categories for boys and girls on different days upto May 16, 2016.
