JAMMU, Apr 5: The Jammu District Open Chess Championship 2026 commenced today at Hotel Nek Below Gumat in Jammu. A total of 45 players are participating in the event, which is being conducted under the Swiss system with 7 rounds, in accordance with the FIDE Laws of Chess.
Bindu Pathania is serving as the chief arbiter, while Stuti Gupta is the deputy chief arbiter for the competition. The event is organized by the Jammu District Chess Association under the aegis of the All J&K Chess Association and the J&K Sports Council.
After the first four rounds, young talents are leading the charge. Soumya Mahajan, Anurag Singh and Ishaan Choudhary are at the top with 4 points each, while Rajyawardhan Singh and Ishwam Kwatra follow closely with 3.5 points each.
