JAMMU, Mar 25: Jammu District Kho-Kho championship, being organized by the J&K State Kho-Kho Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports council got underway at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
In this tournament, which is being played on league cum knock out basis, 6 men and 4 women teams are participating.
The chief guest on the inaugural function, S Manmeet Singh, President J&K State Kho-Kho Association appreciated the role of organizers to promote the indigenous game, which is being played in every nick and corner of the state.
Prominent among other dignitaries present on the occasion were BS Tirthi, Seniorr Vice President, S. Harjeet Singh, Secretary of Kho-Kho Association, Anil Kumar (NIS coach), Romy Tadyal, Vikram Singh, Parbhat Singh, Pankaj Malhotra and Amrinder Singh.
The matches were officiated by Dheeraj Sharma (NIS Coach), Deepak, Anil Kumar, Vikram Singh, Anuradha, Pooja and Bhanu Priya.
The final match of the tournament will held tomorrow at 3 pm.
In today’s matches SAI Club beat HSS Gharota (M) by by an inning and 5 points (12-7); Mahadev Club defeated NIS Club, Akhnoor (M) by an inning and 11 points (19-8); HSS Gharota got better of KV Miran Sahib (M) by 6 points (11-5); SAI Club drubbed Miran Sahib (M) by an inning and 4 points (14-10) and NIS Club trounced Khalsa Club (M) by 3 points (11-8).
