Jammu District Inter-Zonal Cricket, Inter-School Tug of War competitions begin

JAMMU, June 1: Inter Zonal District Level competitions of District Jammu in the disciplines of Cricket boys and girls Under-14 and Under-17 and  Inter School District Level Tournament for boys in the discipline of Tug of War under the age group of 14 and 17 years got underway, here today.
In all, 448 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu district are taking part in the cricket competitions and 90 boys are taking part in Tug of War Competition.
Earlier, Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu and Chairman of the Tournament, in presence of Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu and Organising Secretary declared the competitions open in a well attended function.
Speaking on the occasion, Madan Lal advised the players to give their best and play with sportsman spirit.
He also asked the selectors to pick the players on the basis of their performance and record.
In Cricket Under-14 boys, Marh Zone drubbed Bhalwal Zone and Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Miran Sahib, while in Under-17 boys, Bishnah Zone trounced Dansal Zone, Gandhi Nagar Zone defeated RS Pura and Marh Zone outplayed Arnia Zone.
In Tug of War Under-14 boys final, Govt GHS Sohanjana trounced New Gandhi Memorial HSS Miran Sahib, while in Tug of War Under-17 boys final, New Public Brilliant HSS RS Pura beat New Gandhi Memorial HSS Miran Sahib by 2-0 sets.
The matches were officiated by panel of experts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
