JAMMU, Feb 20: J&K Bank crushed PDC in the semis and registered berth in the finals of the 4th Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament being organised by All J&K Indira Gandhi People’s Association at Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College football ground today.
In the first half, Prem Kumar of J&K Bank netted the goal in the 11th minute and raised the lead on the opponent PDC team by 1-0 goal.
The players of PDC tried their level best to equalize the score but failed and the first half ended with 1-0 goal.
In the second half, Zubair Shah of J&K Bank scored the goal in the 48th minute and raised the scorecard to 2-0 goals.
The enthusiastic Prem Kumar of J&K Bank bounced back and netted the goal in the 68th minutes of the second half and brought the opponent PDC team players under extreme pressure.
After third goal of the match, the players of PDC strived hard to clinch the match but failed. PDC lost the match by 3-0 goals and paved way for J&K Bank to registered berth in the final.
During the match, the yellow card was shown to Hayat Handoo and Salim Gul of PDC in 14th and 53rd minutes respectively, whereas the card was also shown to Jamsheed Ahmed of J&K Bank in 60th minute. The red card was shown to Bilal Ahmed in 84th minute for foul play.
The match was officiated by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Koushal Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Rohit Kumar Gupta.
The match was witnessed by Mohammad Rashid, Member, J&K State Sports Council, who was the chief guest, whereas Satpal Kalsi, Satpal Singh, Harbans Lal, Charan Dass and Krishan Lal were also present.
In tomorrow fixture, J&K Police will lock horns with J&K Forest in the second semis.
