JKP lifts State Handball title

JAMMU, Feb 20: Outplaying Jammu district in a hard fought contest by thirty two goals to twenty eight (32-28) in the summit clash, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) lifted the title trophy in the 2nd State Handball Championship at Shastri Nagar Playfield, here today.
SM Bali, CEO Handball Federation of India and Joint Secretary of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ranjit Singh Chib, former  India captain was the guest of honour. Ashwani Raina, general secretary J&K Handball Association, under whose supervision the Tournament was held, was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, both the teams performed brilliantly and the players matched each others skills. However, JKP finally prevailed over their rivals in a close contest. Sunil Kumar was the star performer for the winners, who netted 10 goals, while Dheeraj Nagpal and Akshay Khajuria scored 5 and 4 goals respectively. For Jammu district team, Sahil Bharat scored 10 goals, while Sahil Padha netted 6 goals.
The chief guest and the guest of honour presented trophies to the winners and runners-up teams and individual medals to the players of both the teams.
