IZDL girl’s competitions get underway

JAMMU, Sept 17: Inter-Zonal District Level girls competitions in discipline of Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Carrom, Chess and Tug of War in all age groups, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports, got underway at Government High School, Jammu Cantonment, here today.
About 800 participants in all age groups are taking part in these events, which were drawn from all 14 Zones of District Jammu.
The tournament is organised under the chairmanship of Gazanfar Ali Director Youth Services & Sports J&K UT, under guidance of Jatinder Mishra, Deputy Director Central DYS&S and overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj. The main aim of the competitions was to select the best players and teams for the next level of competitions coming ahead.
In Chess under-19, Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Bhalwal Zone by 3-1, whereas in under-17, Bhalwal beat Jammu by 3-2 and in under14, Bishnah trounced Khour by 2-1, besides in Kho-Kho under-19, RS Pura defeated Gandhi Nagar and Akhnoor trounced Khour and in under-17, Dansal beat Miran Sahib, Marh trounced Gandhi Nagar and Bishnah beat Jammu.
In Carrom under-17 (Single) Satwari beat Gandhi Nagar, Bishnah defeated Gandhi Nagar and Bishnah trounced Satwari, whereas in doubles, Marh beat Jammu, Gandhi Nagar trounced Miran Sahib and Marh defeated Gandhi Nagar.
In Tug of War under-14, Satwari trounced Akhnoor by 2-0, whereas in under-17, Satwari beat RS Pura by 2-0 and in under-19, Miran Sahib defeated Satwari by 2-1, whereas in Volleyball (under-19), Gandhi Nagar beat Chowki Choura sets, whereas Gandhi Nagar beat Jammu and Chowki Choura trounced Bhalwal and in under-17, Marh beat Jourian besides Marh trounced Akhnoor and Jourian defeated Chowki Choura.
