LEH, Dec 30: The first Sonam Skalzang Memorial Snooker Championships-2019 concluded today at The Billiards Club Leh.
DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the chief guest and ASP, Leh Suresh Kumar Chib was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Dy SP Hqt Kacho Ishtiyaq Ahmed, District Youth Services & Sport Officer, Leh Tsering Tashi and prominent players were also present.
The championship was organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with the Billiards Club Leh.
Addressing the gathering, DC Leh congratulated the winning and runners-up team.
He appreciated the initiative and efforts of DYSS and Billiards Club Leh for organizing the Championship in a befitting manner.
DC said that in Ladakh a number of games were organized in winter including Ice-hockey, Archery and Billiards which facilitate youth in keeping engaged and help them in overall development as an individual or the society as whole.
He stressed on the need to give more attention to promote sports in Ladakh to have greater participation at national level as well as International level. He further assured to provide full support from administration in every field and advice to organizing more and more games in future.
