SRINAGAR, Dec 3: The finals of 9th Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup was played at Islamia College of Science and Commerce, here today.
The Principal of the College was the chief guest on the valedictory function.
The final match was played between Islamia College, Srinagar and Gandhi Memorial College.
Batting first, Gandhi Memorial College scored 126 runs in the allotted 16 overs.
Yaseen top scored with 26 runs off 23 deliveries, while Umer contributed 25 runs off 15 deliveries. For Islamia College,
Dawood and Danish took 3 wickets each.
Chasing a modest target of 127 runs, Islamia College
achieved it easily before 10 balls.
For Islamia College, Shabir scored brilliant 56 runs in 38 deliveries and captain Danish contributed with 32 in 37 deliveries. For Gandhi Memorial College Umer took 2 wickets.
As such Islamia College lifted the trophy by defeating
Gandhi Memorial College by 5 wickets. Shabir from Islamia College was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant batting performance. Umer Dar was adjudged man of the tournament
for his brilliant bowling performance throughout the tournament. He took 10 wickets with an average of 7.38 runs per wicket.
The prizes among the winners and runners-up teams were distributed by Prof Mohammad Aslam Baba, Principal of the College.
Members of host College Sports Committee and staff members of Gandhi Memorial College were also present on the occasion.
Dr Tarooq Ahmad Ganai, Convenor Games and Sports
Committee presented vote of thanks. Mementos were also presented to the umpires Baba Imtiyaz and Mudassir Mukhdoomi on the occasion.
The Tournament was organised by the Department of Physical Education Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Hawal in Srinagar.
