JAMMU, May 25: The 3rd Open Khelo Jammu “Amrita Cup” Chess Championship was organized by Vivek Chess Academy under the aegis of the All J&K Chess Association at its premises, witnessing enthusiastic participation from young chess players across various age categories.
In the overall categories, Amrita Gupta and Ishaan Chowdhary emerged winners in the girls’ and boys’ sections respectively and were awarded Rs 1,000 each along with trophy cups.
In the Under-16 category, Lakshya Chowdhary secured first place in the boys’ section with 4.5 points, while Avni Sharma clinched the girls’ title with four points. In the Under-13 category, Keshav Mahajan won the boys’ title with 3.5 points and Pearl emerged winner in the girls’ section with 2.5 points. In the Under-10 category, Prajanya topped the boys’ section with five points, while Raesha won the girls’ title with three points.
Sat Paul Singh Rathore, Sanrakshak of Shashwat Hindu Pratishthan J&K, was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed cash prizes worth Rs 5,000 along with trophies and medals among the winners.
Stuti Gupta served as the chief arbiter and conducted the tournament using the latest Swiss System 2026 pairing and tie-break format.
