IRP 20th Bn organizes football tournament

SRINAGAR, Mar 22: A football tournament was organized by IRP-20th Battalion Armed Police Complex Parihaspora Pattan under Civic Action Programme (CAP).
The tournament was inaugurated by Abdul Rashid Bhat, SSP Commandant, IRP 20th Battalion in presence of CO 29 RR at Sports Ground, Government Degree College, Pattan Baramulla.
Eighteen teams of educational zone Pattan are participating in the tournament which will be played on knock out basis. The final match will be played on March 27.
Sports Officer Pattan while welcoming the chief guest said that sports create camaraderie among the youth and shape physique of the youngsters. It promotes mental development by creating high standards of discipline and maintaining physical fitness, he added.
AR Bhat, SSP said that the department is organizing various sports events under CAP to promote sports culture among the youth in the State. He said that police organization, besides its professional duties is providing platform to the youth to achieve excellence in the sports field so that they could compete at higher levels.
He said that sports has now-a-days become a career and the youth excelling are being offered attractive jobs by the private as well as Government sectors. He said that the youth should participate in the sports events and avail benefits to refine their talent.
The inaugural match was played between Higher Secondary School Hamray and High School Tapper.
Among others Principal Government Degree College Pattan, Cultural Co-ordinator Education Zone Pattan, Secretary Football Association Pattan, Mushtaq Ahmad SP Dy Co IRP-20th Battalion, Nissar Hussain, DySP IRP 20th Battalion, Mohammad Shafi, DySP IRP 20th Battalion, SDPO Pattan, SHO Pattan and large number of school children were also present on the occasion.
