Irfan Pathan powers India Legends to 5-wkt win

JAMMU, Mar 10: A magnificent knock of power-packed 57 runs off 31 balls, studded with 6 fours and 3 sixes, powered India Legends to a 5-wicket win over Sri Lanka Legends in the ongoing Road Safety World Series T20 match at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai today.
Needing 139 to win, India Legends were struggling at 62/4 in 10.5 overs, when Irfan came into bat, with Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh all back to pavilion. Irfan hit the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance and hit Farveez Maharoof for a series of sixes and fours in his third over. He was given company by Manpreet Gony, who scored 11 off 8 balls with a massive six. Mohammad Kaif struck 46 off 45 balls, with 3 fours and one six. For Sri Lanka Legends, Chamunda Vaas took 2 wickets, while Farveez Maharoof claimed one.
Earlier, batting first, Sri Lanka Legends scored 138 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets in the process. Skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan and Chamara Kupugedera scored 23 runs each, while Romesh Kaluwitharana contributed 21 runs to the total. For India Legends, Munaf Patel was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 4 important wickets by conceding 19 runs in his 4 overs, while Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Manpreet Gony and Sanjay Bangar claimed 1 wicket each.
