SRINAGAR, June 24: J&K Hockey Association organized an event on International Olympic Day at Polo Ground where Deputy Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi was the chief guest.
The event was organized to celebrate the day and to promote the Olympic values of excellence and respect.
Describing Hockey a game of pride and proud of the Country, Deputy Speaker urged upon the youth to adopt hockey a game for a healthy and sound body and mind. He directed the authorities for improving the condition of ground and providing all facilities for the hockey players.
Deputy Speaker said that the present year is a year of hockey and extended best wishes to the hockey players.
Gurezi said that efforts would be made to start National Champion’s Trophy again on this ground which was stopped in a year 2003.
An exhibition match was played between the Badal Club and Fentral Club in which the Badal Club won the match by 1-0.
A special celebration was also held to remember the foundation day of the International Olympic Committee and the Modern Olympics.
