Udhampur, Oct 8: Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur today hosted the finals as part of three day Inter-Section badminton Tournament for both boys and girls category in the college campus under the supervision of Mr. Rajesh Verma, Director of Sports and Physical Education. A total of 60 students from the college participated in the tournament. Matches were played in both girls as well as boys categories.
The formal inauguration of the tournament took place on October 6, 2015. Management, Principal and Director of Sports and Physical Education encouraged the participants and wishes them good luck for three days long tournament. The tournament was organized with the aim of overall development of the students and to inculcate among them the qualities of true sportsmen.
Men’s single, first semifinals was played between Akshay Bali and Kapil and 2nd Semifinal was played between Arush and Prince. Akshay won the match by straight 2-1 set and Prince by 2-0 straight set. Afterwards men’s single final took place between Akshay and Prince wherein Prince won the final in the straight set of 2-0 (21-16, 21-18).
Women’s singles semifinals were played between Meenakshi and Rachna and Neha and Swati. Rachna and Swati both defeated their co-players in semifinals by 2-0 each and reached the final. Swati became the winner of the final match in the straight set of 2-0 (21-13, 21-15) by defeating Rachna.
In the category of Men’s doubles after winning the semifinals Kapil and Develjeet and Prince and Akshay reached the finals. Prince and Akshay played well in the finals and registered the victory in their names by 2-0 (21-17, 21-10). Women’s doubles semifinals were played and Meenakshi and Neha and Swati and Rachna remained the winner and reached the finals. The final was won by Meenakshi and Neha in the straight set of 2-0 (21-13, 21-14).
