JAMMU, Nov 20: The Diocese of Jammu Srinagar Education Society organized an Inter-School Kho-Kho tournament in memory of Late Bishop Peter Celestine at St Antony’s Convent School,Vijaypur.
18 Convent Schools participated in the Kho-Kho tournament. St John’s Convent School, Mandal was declared as the winner of the Kho-Kho tournament while Little Flower Convent School, Udhampur and St Antony’s Convent School Vijaypur were the first and second runners-up respectively.
Kiran Jyoti, District Youth and Services Officer Samba was the chief guest on the occasion, while Rev Fr Jose V., Vice President of DJSES was the guest of honour.
Beside the winning trophies to the three winning teams, cash prize of Rs 10000, 5000 and 3000 was given to each winning team respectively. All the participants were also given the Certificates of Appreciation from the Organizers.
In the end, Rev. Fr. Soosai Rajan, Director of Co-curricular Activities delivered vote of thanks.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Fr. Premful, Fr Franky, Fr Biju, Fr Shaiju, Fr Ujin and Sr Salvin.
Meanwhile, an Inter-School Cricket tournament in memory of Late Bishop Hippolytus was held in the cricket ground, Smailpur.
17 Convent Schools participated in the event.
Presentation Convent School, Reasi was declared as the winner of the tournament while Holy Cross Convent School, RS Pura and St. Antony’s Convent School Vijaypur were the first and second runner-ups respectively.
The Chief Guest for the event was Most Rev Bishop Ivan Pereira, President of DJSES and the guest of honour for the same event was Balwinder Singh Manhas, Sarpanch of Smailpur.
