JAMMU, Oct 3: The Department of Youth Services and Sports of District Jammu launched the Inter-School District Level Selection Trials for Karate (Boys & Girls), Hockey (Boys), and Gymnastics (Boys) under-19 years. The competitions began today at MA Stadium Jammu and KK Hakku Stadium Jammu, showcasing young athletes’ talents in various sports.
Approximately 150 participants from various private and Government schools in District Jammu are taking part in these trials, aiming to select the best talent for upcoming competitions. The competitions are being conducted by a team of experts from the department, including Karanjit Singh, Jagit Singh, Mandeep Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Neeru Jablia, Mayank, Mousmi Verma, Vaneet Pangotra, Rajesh Bandral, and other technical officials.
I/C DYSSO Jammu, Harvinder Kour, appreciated the participants for their enthusiasm and urged them to demonstrate team spirit and dedication in pursuit of their goals. In the basketball U-19 matches, Zone Akhnoor defeated Zone Bishnah 28-02, Zone Miran Sahib narrowly won against Zone Gandhi Nagar 29-28, Zone Satwari triumphed over Zone Marh 18-02, and Zone Jammu secured victory against Zone Bhalwal 27-08. These competitions mark an important step in identifying and nurturing sporting talent in the region, contributing to the overall development of youth in Jammu.
