JAMMU, Aug 24: Inter Division State Level Competition in the sports discipline of Chess for girls (all age groups) concluded at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
The Competition was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services and Sports and under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu. Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the organizing secretary of the Competition. She distributed prizes among the winners in a simple function.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Tarsem Lal, ZPEO Dansal, BKTikoo, Vishal Bharti and Kamal Singh.
The main objective of this competition was to select the team of J&K for participation at the National Level Competition of 2017.
In Chess Under-19 girls, Prakiti of Jammu trounced Umeda of Kashmir; Mansa of Jammu beat Zinnat of Kashmir; Abhniv of Jammu outplayed Nameera of Kashmir; Ananya Puri of Jammu drubbed Khushboo of Kashmir and Arushi of Jammu emerged winner, while in Under-17 girls, Obissa of Kashmir beat Sonia of Jammu; Kousar of Kashmir prevailed over Isha of Jammu; Manvi and Devanshi of Jammu emerged winners and in and in Chess Under-14 girls, Jigyasa of Jammu got better of Zahid of Kashmir; Farhat of Kashmir defeated Tamana of Jammu; Nisha of Kashmir beat Ridhima of Jammu; Bhavana of Jammu outplayed Muntaha of Kashmir and Mabsifa of Kashmir beat Samridhi of Jammu. The matches were officiated by Kamal Singh, Amit Kalsi, Nitin Sethi, Nitin Sharma and Sanjay Gupta.
