JAMMU, Oct 15: Inter District State Level Volleyball Tournament for Under-19 boys got under way at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Akhnoor, today.
Total 18 districts of the State in Boys Section are competing for top honors. The three-day competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under the patronship of Navin Agarwal (IPS), Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K.
The tournament was declared open by SDM Akhnoor, Suresh Chander in the presence of District Youth Services and Sports officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, principal, GHSS (Boys) Akhnoor, Balji Thaploo and principal, GHSS (Girls), Akhnoor, Ashok Kumar.
Five matches were played today. In the 1st match, Kathua beat Pulwama by 3-1 sets. In 2nd match, Baramulla defeated Doda by 3-1 sets while Poonch thrashed Rajouri by 3-2 sets in 3rd match.
Samba beat Budgam by 3-0 sets in the 4th match while in 5th match Udhampur beat Jammu by 3-1 sets.
The matches were officiated by Mulkh Raj Sharma, Neeraj Sharma, Tarsem Lal, Manik Nargotra, Shashi Sharma, Bua Ditta and Jagjit Singh.
