Inter District State Level Judo competitions get underway

JAMMU, Sept 1: The State Level Inter-District Tournament in the discipline of Judo Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 for boys got underway at Government Degree College, here today.
The Tournament is being held under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports,  Jahangir Mir and under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua, Sunil Kumar.
The tournament was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Manmohan Singh in the presence of chairman of the Tournament, Principal Govt Degree College, Kathua,  Banwari Lal Gupta.
A total of 75 players drawn from 5 districts including Kathua, Reasi, Jammu, Srinagar and Shopian are participating in this two days competition.
The matches were officiated by Virender Sharma, Pankaj Spolia, Rajive Kumar and Atul Sharma.
In Under-19 boys, below 40 kg, Rehmal Ali of Kathua won gold, while Mohd Asif of Jammu clinched silve.
In 45 kg, Sumed Singh of Jammu won gold and Bhag Hussain of Kathua claimed silver and in below 50 kg, Bhursen of Kathua won gold and Shubam Sharma of Jammu bagged silver.
In below 55 kg, Mridul Kerni of Jammu clinched gold, while Hitesh of Kathua claimed silver, while in below 60 kg, Kunal Sharma of Jammu won gold and Subash Singh of Reasi bagged silver.
In below 65 kg, Shashank Baru of Jammu won gold and Shafi Din of Kathua claimed silver, while in below 71 kg, Mohd Asif of Jammu won gold and Mir Aftab of Srinagar got silver.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Kuldeep Singh, Ashok Kumar, Punjab Singh, Tilak Raj, Virender Singh, Darshan Kumar and Sanjeev Sunny.
