SAMBA, May 20: The inter district division-level basketball competitions for boys and girls under the age group of 19 years was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Samba at Government High School, Jatwal here today.
The competitions were being held under the chairmanship of Suram Chand Sharma (Joint Director, Youth Services & Sports, Jammu) under the overall supervision of Chander Kanta (District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Samba) in the presence of Dhrub Singh (Head Master of the host school) and Vikas Gupta (ZPEO Ghagwal).
Ajit Kumar (Sarpanch Jatwal) was the chief guest on the occasion while Angrez Singh (National basket ball player) was the guest of honour.
In Boys U-19 category, District Jammu beat District Kathua by 23-12 points and claimed the final title. Raghav of Jammu district played outstanding game and scored 12 points.
In Girls U-19 category, District Jammu beat District Kathua by 14-12 points and claimed the winner’ title. Sonali of district Kathua played outstanding game and scored 10 points but lost the match. Dibha of Jammu scored 6 points for Jammu district.
The matches were officiated by Mohit Jamwal, Dalbir Singh, Pankaj Kumar and Jagmohan Singh.
