Inter-District Chess, Yoga competitions get underway

JAMMU, Aug 30: State Level Inter-District Chess and Yoga competitions, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Office Jammu, got underway, her today.
In all, 200 participants drawn from 14 Districts of the State are taking part in in both the events.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General, Youth Services & Sports J&K.
Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu was the chief guest on the inaugural function, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the Organising Secretary of the tournaments.
The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams for the National Level competitions.
In Under-14 Boys (Chess), District Kathua defeated District Srinagar, with Nitish and Shivam emerging winner.
In Under-14 Girls (Chess), District Srinagar defeated District Doda, with Sakeena and Montha as the winner
In Under-19 boys (Chess), District Srinagar beat District Anantnag. Irfan and Mohd, Shariq were the winners.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts from the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
