Inter-Collegiate Swimming, Kho-Kho, Badminton competitions get underway

JAMMU, Sept 10: In the ongoing 45th Inter-Collegiate Competitions, the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, organized Inter-Collegiate Swimming (Men) Championship 2018-19 at Swimming Pool MA Stadium, here.
Twenty three Swimmers from 10 colleges took part in the competitions.
The competitions in Kho-Kho (M&W) and Badminton (M) also commenced today.
In Inter-Collegiate Kho-Kho (M&W) competition, Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu was the chief guest who interacted with the teams of different colleges of Jammu province and declared the competition open.
While in Inter Collegiate Badminton (M) tournament, Dr Dharminder Mangotra (J.R. Finance) was the chief guest, who interacted with all the players of the tournament and encouraged them for participation in the games and sports for overall development of their personality. He was accompanied by Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Apart from the above competitions, in the Inter Collegiate Swimming (M&W) competition, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu distributed medals amongst the winners and he also complemented the medallists.
In Swimming (M) 50 mtr Free Style, Hardik Khajuria of SPMR College of Commerce clinched Gold Medal by completing the race in 33 seconds, while Ayush of MIET and Prithipal Singh of GDC Samba claimed 2nd and 3rd positions by completing the race in 34 seconds and 37 seconds respectively.
In 100 mtr Free Style, Vishesh of SPMR College of Commerce stood first 1.27.85, Mithlesh of ASCOMS 2nd (1.30) and Rakesh of GDC Samba (1.35).
In 200 mtr Free Style, Vishesh of SPMR College of Commerce stood first (3.17.45), Mithlesh of ASCOMS 2nd (3.17.72) and Prithipal Singh of GDC Samba claimed 3rd place (3.27.02).
In 100 mtr Back Stroke, ChetanSharma of PG Department clinched Gold Medal (1.58.91), 2nd Abhishek of MBSCET (2.10.15), 3rd Mithlesh of ASCOMS (2.10.53).
In 200 mtr Back Stroke, Chetan Sharma of PG Deptt clinched Gold Medal by completing the race in 4. 49 seconds, while Vishal kumar of GDC Samba and Abhishek of MBSCET bagged 2nd and 3rd positions by completing the race in 5.39 seconds and 6. 17 seconds respectively.
In 100 mtr Breast Stroke, Ayush of MIET stood first (1.41.88), Hardik of SPMR College of Commerce 2nd (1.51.78) and Vishal sharma of GDC Hiranagar 3rd (1.54.25).
In 200 mtr. Breast Stroke, Ayush of MIET Stood first (4.05), Chetan Sharma of PG Department claimed 2nd place (4.26.87), while Abhay of GDC Samba bagged 3rd (6.53.12).
In Inter Collegiate Swimming (M), the overall Championship went to SPMR College of Commerce, which secured 3 gold and 1 silver (total 18 points).
The officiating panel included Vikas Magotra, (Swimming Coach), Prem Bhadur, Francis, Raj Kumar Bakshi and students of MPEd and BPEd.
In Kho-Kho Women, GCW Gandhi Nagar beat GDC, Bishnah by 15 points (17-02) and GDC Samba defeated GDC Mendhar by 10 points ( 12-02), while in Kho-Kho Men, GDC, Mendhar drubbed GDC RS Pura by 2 points (17-15) and GDC, Udhampur beat GDC Hiranagar by 8 points (11-03).
The matches were officiated by Dheeraj Sharma, Anil Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Shibali Bhau, Kanchan and Gagan Kumar.
In Badminton (M), SPMR College of Commerce beat GDC, Basholi by 3-0, GDC, Akhnoor beat ASCOMS by 3-1, GDC Reasi beat IMS Patoli by 3-1, Trikuta Degree College drubbed GDC Samba by 3-0, Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology trounced GDC Billawar by 3-1, GDC, Ramnagar outplayed Dogra Law College by 3-0, GGM Science College outclassed GDC, Hiranagar by 3-2.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Vikram Jamwal, Rakesh Verma, Gourav Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma and Ankit Sharma.
The competitions are being organised under the overall supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu.
