JAMMU, Jan 17: The Directorate of Sports and the Physical Education University of Jammu organized the inter-college Gatka tournament at its Gymnasium Hall, wherein 12 teams from the various Colleges affiliated with the University participated, here today.
In men fari soti team event, GDC Kathua won Gold, while MBS College of Engineering and Technology Jammu bagged Silver and GDC Samba clinched Bronze medal, while in men fari soti individual, Manpreet Singh of GDC Kathua-Gold, Jasmeet Singh of JU’s PG Department bagged Silver and Gurdeep Singh of GDC Samba secured Bronze medal.
In women fari soti team event, JU’s PG Department-Gold, GDC Paloura-Silver and GCW Parade-Bronze medals, in individual event, Nishtha Kour of PG Deptt. University of Jammu-Gold, Amulya Singh of GCW Parade-Silver and Shagun Kumar of GDC Paloura- Bronze medal.
The overall championship in the men’s section was won by GDC Kathua, while in women’s section JU’s Department team stood first.
Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba Director Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who was introduced with the players and officials before the start of the match in the presence of Mukesh Sharma, Sanjeev Jamwal, Sonu Kumari, Dr. Shamsher Singh and Jai Bharat.
The matches were officiated by Amarjeet Singh, Lovepreet Singh and Padam Dev Singh.
