JAMMU, Nov 28: MIER College of Education in collaboration with different colleges organized an inter-college symposium on the theme ‘Constitutional Values in Contemporary Indian Politics’ through hybrid mode, here today.
The programme was held under the patronage of Dr Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College. Students from 10 colleges from within and outside of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the symposium. HoDs, Deputy HoDs and faculty of MIER College, St. Christopher College, Chennai and Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib attended the event.
The participants comprehensively expressed their views about Constitutional values such as sovereignty, fraternity, equality, secularism, democracy, liberty, justice etc. Each speaker spoke about the role of the Indian Constitution in contemporary politics and highlighted the various issues prevalent in India like electoral reforms and constitutional rights, etc.
The judges for the competition were Dr SP Christopher Chandran, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, Madras Christian College, Chennai and Navneet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Political Science, Shri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab.
Based on the results given by the jury, the 1st prize was clinched by Grace. N. Shivani from Christopher College, Chennai, while 2nd prize was bagged by Monali from Govt. College of Education Jammu and the 3rd prize was secured by Falguni Pathak from KC College of Education. The consolation prize was given to Neha Sharma from MIER College of Education.
The event was conducted by Muskan Adhlakha, student of B.Ed. Semester III and vote of thanks was proposed by Komal Sharma, convener co-curricular committee, MIER College.
