SRINAGAR, Mar 7: Voluntary Medicare Sports Club organised one day sports event for specially-abled persons at Indoor Stadium, here today.
Specially-abled children and adults from different districts participated in different games including Badminton, Chess, Carrom and Skipping.
Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool, who was chief guest on this occasion in his inaugural speech stressed need of friendly environment for specially-abled persons to facilitate their integration in the society.
He said, “we need to create awareness among the masses regarding needs of these people and also help them to participate in different day to day activities”.
Dr Maqbool said that VMSC is trying its best to provide these specially-abled people with all facilities and also have started livelihood programme for them.
Specially-abled players while participating in different games show their potential and enthral the people watching them.
The women participants were very enthusiastic about their participation in the games.
One of the participants Mehvish while sharing her experience said that this event has encouraged her to explore sporting talent.
Winners of the event were presented trophies and certificates on the occasion. Large number of people witnessed these games and encouraged the participants by cheering them.
