UDHAMPUR, Sept 10: Indian Army Mountaineering Expedition to Mt Stok Kangri (6153 M) was flagged off by GOC, 14 Corps, today.
In a traditional way, the GOC handed over the ice axe and flags to the team leader and marked the start of the Expedition.
The team of five Officers including 1 Junior Commissioned Officer and 18 other ranks were selected by the Indian Army for this Expedition.
The team is due to summit the peak on September 17 and 18, 2015.
The Expedition is to maintain the highest traditions of Indian Army to promote and encourage the spirit of adventure, exploration and inquisitiveness among the troops of Indian Army.
