Imran Ansari for nurturing talent to bring out best in youth

*Declares 17th Sub Jr National Wushu C’ship open

JAMMU, Mar 28: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari declared open the 17th Sub Junior National Wushu Championship, being organized by Wushu Association of J&K, in an impressive and well attended function at Police Auditorium, Gulshan ground, here today.
The Championship is being organized by Wushu Association of J&K.
Mr Ansari was the chief guest on the occasion, while Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, Secretary J&K State Sports Council and Bhupender Singh Bajwa, president Wushu Association of India were the guests of honour.
Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu and Senior Vice President Wushu Association of J&K; Sandeep Choudhary, SP South; Vijay Saraf, President J&K Wushu Association; Dr Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary J&K Olympic Association; Anil Vij, Vice President Wushu Association of India and Kuldeep Handoo, Chief Wushu Coach of India and General Secretary Wushu Association of J&K also graced the occasion with their presence.
A total of 1100 participants including 900 players and 200 officials drawn from 37 affiliate Units of Wushu across the country are taking part in the Championship.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Ansari welcomed the visiting players and termed them as the messengers of peace and harmony.
The Minister said that the youth of our state have ample talent but the need is to identify the same and provide them full support to bring out the best in them.
“Onus of channelizing the energy of youth positively lies on every one’s shoulders, the Minister said adding that youth are our future and their proper nurturing is our responsibility”.
Ansari said that it is the endeavour of the government to give full momentum to sports culture besides recognizing the meritorious students and to provide them all kind of support in their future endeavours.
The Minister asked the concerned officers for organizing such events in the Kashmir division to give boost to sports.
“It will help to combat the negative portrayed image of the State,” he added.
The Minister attributed the success of his Ministry to his young team including Parra, Kalra and Handoo etc.
Earlier, Ranjeet Kalra presented welcome address and gave brief report of the Championship.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Sports Council said that sports and games impart a sense of discipline, fellow feeling, and togetherness, besides it teaches the value of time in the field of competition.
Mr Bajwa also spoke on the occasion and lauded the efforts of Mr Handoo in promoting Wushu in the State and the country as well. He also appreciated the medal winners from Jammu and Kashmir in this sport at the national and international scene. Mr Bajwa wished that Gulmarg be made permanent venue for holding high altitude Wushu Camps for honing the skill of the players.
A beautiful cultural item ‘Guldasta’- an amalgam of Dogri, Kashmiri and Punjabi dance presented by Natya Roots Dance Group enthralled the entire audience, while Wushu Demonstration was a delight to watch.
Mementoes were presented to all the dignitaries by the chief guest on the occasion, while Ranjeet Kalra presented a memento to the chief guest as a token of gratitude from the organizers.
Vijay Saraf, president Wushu Association of J&K presented vote of thanks.
The proceedings of the opening ceremony were conducted by anchor Rajesh Dhar.
