GULMARG, Feb 4: Despite heavy snowfall in the past two weeks, Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) managed to complete its 3rd Ski Course in which more than 80 students from all over the nation were trained.
Availability of the best of equipment and grooming machines along with the relentless spirit of its Principal, Col JS Dhillon and his team made it possible for the institute to tame its slopes even in adverse weather.
Many of students were from Delhi Public School, Srinagar. The course had a mosaic of ages from primary school children to professional adults which included airlines pilots, medicos, professional photographers and corporate hunks. The children of DPS displayed an unflinching spirit and fought all obstacles put forth by nature to learn their ski lessons. Many of them bagged prizes in various competitions and also won awards for being disciplined.
Brigadier S.V. Bhaskar, VrC, the officiating commandant of High Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg was the chief guest who was welcomed by the Principal.
Col J.S. Dhillon briefed the audience about the journey of the institute from borrowed huts to becoming one of the best institutes in the country.
He said IISM Gulmarg is the best institute of our country to promote national integration.
He gave away the prizes to the winners of different skiing events.
