IHFI holds AGBM, launches NSPO in Leh

LEH, June 15: The Ice Hockey Federation of India (IHFI) held its Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) and officially launched its recognition as a National Sports Promotion Organisation (NSPO) at a grand ceremony in Leh. The event was presided over by Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, President of IHFI and former MP from Ladakh.
Representatives from affiliated state associations including Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Ladakh attended the AGBM. The meeting passed key resolutions, including seeking affiliation with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to expand India’s global and national presence in Ice Hockey.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Secretary of Ladakh, as chief guest. Dignitaries from LAHDC Leh and Kargil, UT administration and Members of Parliament also attended. Highlights included the unveiling of IHFI’s new logo and jersey, distribution of affiliation certificates, and keynote addresses.
President Namgyal expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the UT Administration of Ladakh and the people of the region for their continued support. Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Kargil; Mohd Haneefa Jan, Member of Parliament, Ladakh; Tsering Angchuk, Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh; and Vikram Singh Malik, Administrative Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, also graced the occasion.
The program featured the unveiling of IHFI’s new logo and jersey, certificate distribution to state associations and a vote of thanks by PT Kunzang, Joint Secretary, IHFI. The event concluded with refreshments and warm interactions.
