Ice Skating coach, 2 skaters selected for International competition

SRINAGAR, Nov 28: Two ice skaters along with the coach of Jammu and Kashmir Ice Skating Association have been selected for an international competition scheduled to be held in January next year in Singapore.
A spokesperson of the Ice Skating Association of Jammu and Kashmir said that their coach Mohammad Ashraf Dijoo and two other skaters, Adeeb Ahmad Wani and Umar Iqbal Wani, were selected for the competition.
He added that Dijoo was selected as National coach to lead the Indian team to Switzerland in December/ January 2019-2020 to participate in short track speed challenge.
He described it as the best achievement for the winter sport of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The selected players have to join team India in Ice skating coaching camp by the end of 2019 and team India will leave to attend the Singapore for the competition,” he said.
He further said that Dijoo has brought laurels for Jammu and Kashmir and won 14 medals in various ice events in 1st SFA winter games held at Uttrakhand in 2010-11 with gold in Ice Hockey. He has won a number of medals in different skating competition.
He added that Dijoo had introduced ice roll ball in India in 2014 for which he has prepared a national team in which all the players are from Jammu and Kashmir.
