Hundreds of youngsters participate in ‘Marathon’, vow to fight against drug menace

UDHAMPUR, Sept 30: Hundreds of youngsters took part in the “Marathon–A Run against Drug Eviction”, organized by Dogra Kranti Dal. The participants also vowed to fight against drug menace.
On the occasion, Former MLA and Chief Patron Dogra Kranti Dal Balwant Singh Mankotia was the chief guest, who flagged off the marathon.
While addressing the youth, Mankotia said that participation of such a large number of youth in this marathon for a war against drugs has set an example in the whole Udhampur constituency and the State.
Mankotia said that it is the start of war against drugs which will convey a message to the State as well as the whole country.
He added that in recent days most of youth got trapped in drugs abuse and had paid by loosing their lives. He said that it should be barred strictly as it is weakening the nation.
Mankotia blamed that it is the intrigue of Pakistan to make our youth drug addict and weaken our nation. “It is very necessary to make awareness among youths against drugs. It is our prime goal to make State drugs free and in coming days Dogra Kranti Dal would launch mass movement against drugs by organizing such marathons and sports activities”, he added.
Later in the felicitation ceremony, first prize of Rs 5100 was presented to Akshay Sharma, while second prize of Rs 3100 to Sohan Singh and third prize of Rs 2100 to Anil Kumar. First 20 participants were also awarded with prizes.
Scores of youth, locals including social activists Diwan Singh Ex-Sarpanch, Jagdev Singh Jagga, Sony Rathore, Shekhar Raina, Subash Singh, Romesh Atri, Gopal Sharma and Tarentar Singh were present on the occasion.
