Horizon Club, RS XI script big wins in T20 Cricket C’ship

JAMMU, Feb 5: Horizon Cricket Club and Road Safety XI registered emphatic victories over their rivals in the ongoing 5th Road & Safety T20 Cricket Championship at KC Sports Club Ground, here.
The Championship is being organized by the Transport Department in collaboration with KC Sports Club Jammu under the chairmanship of Transport Commissioner of J&K. SSP RK Bhat is the Organizing Secretary, while Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer & former Ranji Trophy Player is the Coordinator of the event.
In today’s matches Ajaj Abdullah Saraf, Special Secretary & Additional Transport Commissioner and DySP Hameed Choudhary were the chief guests in separate matches, while Arjun Choudhary, MD KC Sports Club was the guest of honour, They presented man of the match awards to the winners.
Earlier, in the first match, Horizon Cricket Club defeated KC Cricket Academy by a huge margin of 103 runs.
Batting first, Horizon Club scored 188 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Satta (56), Wasim (46) and Umran (23) were the main scorers. Shubam and Harvinder took 2 wickets while each for KC Academy, while Ritik, Saqib and Gourav claimed one wicket each.
KC Cricket Academy, in reply, managed to score 85 runs in 14 overs, thus lost the match by 103 runs. Basit was the top scorer with 25 runs, while Gourav and Shubam contributed 13 and 11 runs respectively. For Horrizon, skipper Ashish Singh took 4 important wickets, while Piyush took 2 wickets. Sanam and Satta claimed one wicket each.
In another match, Road Safety XI scripted an easy win over Secretariat XI.
Batting first, Road & Safety made 123 runs in 20 overs, losing 9 wickts in the process. Hinan (42), Arvind (23) and Masoom (13) runs were the main scorers.
From bowling side, Yasir took 3 wickets, Mehraj bagged 2 wickets, while Tahir, Adil and Haseeb claimed 1wicket each.
In reply, Secretariat XI scored 98 runs in 20 overs, thus lost the match by 25 runs. Imtiaz (20), Haseeeb (14) and Mohsin (12) were the main scorers. Hinan took 3 wickets, while Zubair bagged 2 wickets. Arvind, Sahil and Dinesh claimed 1 wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Ashok, Vijay and Vinod.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Simula Club will face Vishal Club at 12.15 pm.
