Hero Club enters semis of Arun Football tourney

JAMMU, Apr 23: Outplaying the spirited side of J&K Bank Academy by 5-3 via tie-breaker, Hero Club today qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing Ist Arun Kumar Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament at Mini Stadium, Parade, here.
Earlier, in the stipulated time the match ended in a 1-1 draw. The goal was scored by Hero Club in the 13th minute through Lakshit. The lead levelled by Bank Academy in the 22nd minute when Danish netted the ball.
Meanwhile, in another match of the pre-quarterfinals stages, Jammu United inflicted a humiliating 5-0 defeat on Vijay Club to reach quarterfinals. Munish Manhas (5th), Manjit Singh (12th), Farhan (21st) and Karamveer (47th and 56th) were the scorers.
In today’s matches, senior footballer and former J&K Bank player, Rakesh Kumar was special guest, who interacted with the teams.
This tournament is being organised by Climrate Football Club under the overall supervision of president, Ashutosh Sharma and generals secretary, Rakesh Khanna.
FIXTURE: J&K Police meets Young Rovers at 3.30 pm and Shaheen FC to meet Churchill Brothers at 5.30 pm tomorrow.
