DODA, July 30: Hardeep Singh helped Friends Cricket Club (FCC) Ghat lift the title trophy of the All India 13th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship 2017, thrashing Green Shaheen Cricket Club (GSCC) Doda by 6 wickets in the summit clash at Sports Stadium, here today.
The tournament was organized by Young Star Cricket Club Doda and sponsored by 10 Rashtriya Rifles Unit Doda, J&K Police, J&K Bank and Green Model Hr Sec School Doda.
Ex Home Minister Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy was the chief guest, Commanding Officer 10RR Col Mritunjay Upadhaya (SM) and SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir was the guest of honour.
Earlier, after winning the toss, GSCC Doda opted to bat first and scored 172 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Abid Nabi top scored with 69 runs, while Zahid Rasool contributed 25 runs. From FCC Ghat, Shampy Dagar scalped 2 wickets while Ankit Tomar, Rohan Rawat, Akash Antil shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, FCC Ghat chased the target in 18 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Hardeep Singh was the top scorer with 75 runs, while Rahul Redhu contributed 36 runs. From GSCC Doda, Nadeem Dar took 2 wickets while Abid Nabi, Nazir Malik and Rasik Dar claimed 1 wicket each. Hardeep Singh was declared as the man of the match for his brilliant batting performance, while as Abid Nabi of Green Shaheen Cricket Club Doda was declared as the man of the series who was given cash prize of Rs 5,000.
Meanwhile Chief Guest Former MOS Home Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy, Commanding Officer 10RR, SSP Doda, ADC Doda, ACR Doda, Vice President JK Bank Zonal Office and other guests distributed winners’ trophy to FCC Ghat with a cash prize of Rs 1,05, 000 and runners-up trophy to GSCC Doda with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Patron YSCC Doda Manzoor Batt, CO 10RR Col Mritunjay Upadhaya, SSP Doda and ADC Doda spoke on the occasion and lauded the efforts of the organizers for holding this mega event.
