JAMMU, Mar 8: A friendly women Handball match was organised between District Jammu and District Udhampur by Kargil Martyrs Handball Club Udhampur in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Mini Stadium Udhampur.
Ateeksha Sethi, Information Officer (DIPR Jammu), Priyanka Sharma, Inspector Isha Mahajan Incharge Women Cell Udhampur, Dr Charu Shilla Assistant Commandant ITBP, Dr Parvidner Kour GDMO, Veena Rani Senior Lecturer, Sarabjeet Kour Inspector ITBP, Vinay Sharma Handball Coach, Dalveer Kumar Hockey Coach and Renu Rattan Inspector, former international Handball player were among the special guests who graced the function.
The chief guest of the event, SSP Udhampur, Sargun Shukla delivered her message to the players and organisers through telephonically. The motto to organize this match was to empower women in every sphere of life.
The match was won by Jammu Handball Club in the first extra time with a final score 11-10 points. Poonam Rajpoot from Jammu was awarded with best player award, whereas Ojesvi Singh of Udhampur declared as best goalkeeper.
Manmeet Singh, President Kargil Martyrs Handball Club, Rishi Sharma General Secretary Kargil Martyrs Handball Club, S. Surjeet Singh, Sanjeev Magotra, Vinod Dogra, Shotu Magotra President Ram Seva Samiti Udhampur, Arun Mehta, Parshotam Sharma, Ajeet Singh, Bhoopinder Singh, Gourav Sharma and many others were graced the event.
