JAMMU, Feb 7: Ace Gymnast Bavleen Kour and gritty Judoka, Paramveer Singh kept the State’s Flag high by winning medals in their respective disciplines to open the account for Jammu and Kashmir in the prestigious
1st Khelo India School Games (KISG) at Delhi, today.
Bavleen won silver medal in under-17 age group in Gymnastics, while Paramveer bagged silver in Judo.
The J&K contingent of 22 athletes and six officials, under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) is participating in the 1st Khelo India School Nationals, being held from January 31 at the National Capital.
J&K is taking part in five different disciplines including Judo, Gymnastics, Shooting, Swimming and Weightlifting. In Judo five boys and four girls are participating, while in Gymnastics four girls are taking part. In
Similarly, in Shooting one girl is taking part, while in swimming one boy and four girls and in weightlifting three boys.
Director Youth Services and Sports, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad lauded the efforts of the participating players and hoped for better performance of the players in other disciplines also.
