Gurjant, Maan Singh emerge best boxers of Jammu

Boxing C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Mar 5: Gurjant Singh and Maan Singh were adjudged as best boxers in seniors and youth categories respectively in the Jammu District Boxing Championship, organised by J&K Amateur Boxing Association at Boxing Ring MA Stadium, here today.
Both these boxers displayed extraordinary skills and entertained the spectators including the distinguished guests.
Divisional Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Ashok Singh was chief guest of the closing ceremony who distributed prizes among winners, while Manager Indoor Complex, Satish Gupta was guest of honour.
In total of 60 boxers took part in this championship in different age groups under the technical penal, led by Boxing coach of JKSC, Anil Wadhera , whereas Pardeep Sharma (Army), Rajneesh Sharma (Udhampur), Arif Mohd and Naveen Sharma were among technical panel.
This championship was organised by J&K Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of Boxing Federation of India, J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Rajan Sharma welcomed the guests and presented a brief about the championship and future plans.
In Elite men (46-49 kg) Ankit Saini and Mukesh Kumar stood 1stand 2nd, whereas in 52-56 kg, Gurjant and Ajay Singh bagged top two positions while Akash Kumar and Satish Chouhan shared 3rd position and in 56-60 kg, top two positions were clinched by Mahesh and Vikrant while Ankush Gangla and Aman Bhau shared 3rd position besides in 60-63 kg, Nitish and Harish Gabgotra and Danish Kumar remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In 63-69 kg category, Suman Mehra, Nikhil Khajuria bagged first two positions while Ranyodh Charak and Bishesh Sharma shared 3rd place, whereas in 69-75 kg, Harsh Dev Singh stood 1st , Santan Verma remained 2nd and in 75-85 kg, Nitin Kumar and Akash Bogia won 1st and 2nd places besides in 46-49 kg, Maan Singh and Piyush Gabotra clinched 1st and 2nd positions while Arun Mehra and Krishna shared 3rd place while in 52-56 kg, Mayank Chetri stood 1st, Jatin Sharma bagged 2nd place and Tarun and Sunil shared 3rd place.
In 56-60 kg category, Satyam Khajuria won 1st place; Nikhil Singh stood 2nd and Arsh Singh Katoch clinched 3rd position, whereas in 60-64 kg, Sourav Mehra and Sachin Chowdhary stood 1st and 2nd.
