Gunjan lifts District Sport Climbing C’ship title

JAMMU, May 2: Gunjan of Amba Kids Home Panthal, Katra won the prestigious Girls title of the Reasi District Sport Climbing Championship which concluded at Sprawling Buds ICSE School Bantalab, here today.
In a tough contest with Janvi Dubey and Sneha Rajput of the same School Gunjan climbed three holds more than Janvi to emerge victorious. Janvi and Sneha Rajput bagged the Silver and Bronze medals respectively. However, there was not much competition in the boys category of Reasi District with Chanderdeep, Anis and Rahul securing the first three positions respectively.
Similarly, in the girls category of Udhampur district it was quite easy for Shivali Thakur to clinch the Gold medal in absence of any serious challenge for the coveted position. Versha Jamwal and Meenu won Silver and Bronze medals respectively. Manish Singh Katoch of National Academy High School Udhampur regaled the crowd by topping the 40 ft high fiberglass climbing wall in great style to claim the boys title of the Udhampur district. Vansh Sharma and Prince Thakur secured the Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
Arti Sharma, Principal of Apple Kids School Bantalab was the chief guest of the valedictory function who along with Rahul Sharma, chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School Jammu presented medals to the winners of the various categories.
Prominent persons of the Association including Ram Khajuria, Shawetica Khajuria, Seema Sharma, Director of Sprawling Buds ICSE School; Ashwani Katoch, Principal of Amba Kids Home Panthal and many others were present during the event.
Shilpa Charak, an international sport climber, led the team of technical officials which included Vishali Sharma, Pratham Padha and Shubam. The championships were sponsored by J&K Sports Council.
