JAMMU, Oct 13: Gorkha XI thrashed Bhatia XI by a big margin of 102 runs in the inaugural match of Diwali Cup which got underway at Railway ground, here today.
Winning the toss and bating first, Gorkha XI rode on a brilliant century (101) by Hinan Malik to score 165 runs in 20 overs. Akash contributed 16 runs to the total.
From Bhatia XI, Ramit and K Sharma took 2 wicket each.
In reply, Bhatia XI bundled out for a meagre total of 62 runs to lose the match by a huge margin. Vikas was the highest scorer with 15 runs. From Gorkha XI, Sunil was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets, while Anchal and Ashu claimed 2 wickets each. Hinan was declared as the man of the match.
The Tournament is being organised by Balbir Singh of Trikuta Cricket Academy.
