Goenkans visit West Coast USA

JAMMU, July 6: The students of G D Goenka Public School, Jammu governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust went on an educational trip to the West Coast of the USA.
The team comprising of 11 students, namely, Basim Zulfikar, Basit Zulfikar, Divyansh, Jagjot Kour, Kkavyajyoti, Krish Gupta, Manus Sharma, Pragun Aggarwal, Radhika Gupta, Rijul Gupta, and Samardeep Singh alongwith the Principal Rajesh Rathore went on a 12-day career exploratory educational excursion trip in collaboration with Inverted Prism, New Delhi.
They visited Universities, IT hubs and the historical site of Grand Canyon and some amusement parks.
“The visits to University of Stanford, University of Berkeley, University of Southern California, New York Film Academy, American Science Centre, and Griffith Observatory were great learning experiences,” they said.
The team was also exposed to AMES Exploration Centre of NASA, Autodesk and Apple office at San Francisco, wherein they interacted with the senior team members of the Research Group.
They got an idea about diverse range of career options, when they visited Intel, Computer History Museum, Zynga- a video game production company, Exploratorium, Tesla Motors and Google. To add fun to the trip, students were also taken to Universal Studios at Los Angeles, wherein they enjoyed various roller coaster rides pertaining to Jurassic world, Transformers, Minions, Harry Porter and Revenge of the Mummy.
The team also visited the Grand Canyon, a world heritage site, which has many fossil remains and is home to a large array of wildlife. It is replete with rich tribal history. The team got acquainted with Hualapai Tribal Reservation of the Grand Canyon’s West Rim.
A visit to Madam Tussauds Museum completed the experience, wherein they saw wax statues of Hollywood stars.
The Principal, Mr Rathore appreciated the members of the group for being very inquisitive, equipped and disciplined. Tour Mentor, Shubham Garg, an alumnus of University of Southern California, LA, lauded the behaviour of students.
