JAMMU, Jan 22: Govern-ment Medical College (GMC), Jammu registered a super-over victory against Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch, while SPMR Commerce College defeated GGM Science College by 8 wickets in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at University ground, here.
In the first match, Comm-erce College registered a big win by 8 wickets over GGM Science College. Batting first, Science College scored a modest total of 99 runs. Sant top scored with 39 runs, while Govind and Rishav contributed 13 and 12 runs respectively. For Commerce College, Aditya and Shubham took 2 wickets each, while Mohit and Sunny claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Commerce College chased the target easily in 14.4 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus lost the match by 8 wickets. Surya and Shubham Pundir scored 36 and 23 runs respectively. Sunil and Nikhil took one wicket each for Science College.
In another match, GMC Jammu drubbed GDC Poonch via super-over. Earlier, both the teams scored 109 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, thus taking the match to super-over, wherein GMC prevailed over their rivals.
Batting first, GDC Poonch scored 109 runs, with Zahid Ali and Mohd Saqlain contributed 44 and 17 runs respectively. Abu Talah, Danish Bhat and Nasir claimed 2 wickets each, while Rahil took one wicket for GMC Jammu.
In reply, GMC also scored 109 runs. Surya top scored with 35 runs, while Shahbaz and Nasir Ali chipped in with 17 and 12 runs respectively. For GDC Poonch, Zahid Ali bagged 3 wickets, while Gurjit Singh claimed 2 wickets.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vijay Dogra, Suresh Singh, Jagtar Singh, Rahul Sharma, Manu Khajuria and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
