GDC Kathua wins Hockey title, PG Deptt to take on GCW Gandhi Nagar in Kabaddi final

JAMMU, Nov 1: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua lifted the title trophy of the Inter-Collegiate Hockey Championship, while PG Department will take on GCW Gandhi Nagar in the final of the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi final. However, GCW Parade emerged winner in the Inter-Collegiate Wrestling Championship.
GDC Kathua won final of Inter Collegiate Hockey Championship for men by defeating PG Arts by 2-0. The goal scorers from GDC Kathua side were Kamal Singh and Gopal Singh.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu started the match and wished both the teams to play with the true spirit of the game. The match witnessed an amazing skill from both sides.
SAH Bukhari CEO JKCA was the chief guest on the occasion, while Jung Bahadur Jamwal Retd Principal Sessions Judge and Member JKCA was the guest of honour.
Among others present were Prof Ashok Kumar, Assistant Prof Balvinder Singh, Prof Sanjay Singh, Mukesh Kumar PTI, Captain Dubey, GS Bakshi Secretary Hockey J&K and Harmanan Singh.
The match was officiated by Jagjeet Singh, Balvinder Singh, Harvinder Paul Singh, Harmik Singh, Matinderpal Singh, Ranveet Singh, Jagjeet Singh Reen and Joginder Singh.
In the final of the Inter Collegiate Kabaddi Tournament for women, PG Department will take on GCW Gandhi Nagar in the final.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, PG Department beat GCW Parade by 15 points (67-52), whereas in the second semis, GCW Gandhi Nagar defeated GDC Khour by 20 points (30-10).
The matches were witnessed by Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education. The match officials were Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Ankush Gupta, Keshav Singh, Amandeep Singh and Gagan Kumar.
In Inter Collegiate Wrestling Championship final, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade emerged winner by securing 29 points, while Government Degree College Kathua remained runner up with 26 points.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed the medals among the players.
In 50 kgs, Reena Jasrotia of GDC Kathua and Roshi Gupta of GCW Parade bagged first and second positions respectively, while the third position was shared by Madhu Devi of GDC Jindrah and Anamica Bahu of GDC Khour.
In 53 kgs, Manisha Kumari of GCW Parade and Kajal Manhas of GDC Khour clinched first and second positions respectively, whereas the third position was shared by Neha Devi of GCW Gandhi Nagar and Drishti Pawan Sharma of PG.
In 55 kgs, Sanjan Manhas of GCW Parade and Tania Devi of GCW Kathua secured first and second positions respectively, whereas Versha Chib of GCW Gandhi Nagar and Devia Singh of GDC Khour shared third position.
In 57 kgs, Nandani of GCW Parade and Nargis of GDC Jindrah bagged first and second positions respectively, whereas the third position was shared by Roohi of GDC Khour and Shoba of GCW Gandhi Nagar.
In 59 kgs, Meena Kumar of GDC Paloura and Monika of GDC Khour clinched first and second positions respectively, whereas Ritika Mahajan of GCW Kathua and Ritika of GCW Gandhi Nagar shared third position.
In 62 kgs, Smile Jasrotia of GCW Kathua and Shallu Devi of GCW Gandhi Nagar bagged first and second positions respectively, whereas Shivani of GCW Parade and Shallo Devi of GDC Akhnoor shared third position.
In 65 kgs, Sonia of GDC Khour and Nidhi of GCW Kathua bagged first and second positions respectively, whereas the third position was shared by Shilpa of GCW Parade and Babita of GCW Gandhi Nagar.
In 69 kgs, Kusam Rani of GCW Parade and Shukriti of GCW Kathua bagged first and second positions respectively, whereas the third position was shared by Sonakshi of GDC Khour and Shivali of GDC Jindrah.
In 72 kgs, Dilshad of GDC Bishnah, Depika Kapla of GCW Parade and Jeevan Jyoti of GCW Kathua bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In 76 kgs, Diksha Jasrotia of GCW Kathua, Shamina Akhtar of GDC Jindrah and Arya Sharma of GCW Parade clinched first, second and third positions respectively.
The bouts were officiated under the supervision of Jai Bharat NIS Coach, whereas other referees include Sahil Sharma, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Pankaj Sapolia and Kamal Sharma.
Among others present were Dr Balwinder Singh, Suman, Neenu Narainia, Sanjeev Jamwal, Vikesh Sharma, Gautam Sharma, Ravish Vaid, Sunil Sharma, Vikram Jamwal and Vikas Karlopia.
GMC Jammu and GDC Bhaderwah outclassed rivals in their respective matches and sailed into the semis of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament for men at Jammu University ground, here today.
In the first match, GMC Jammu thrashed GDC Mendhar by 8 wickets.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, GDC Mendhar scored 114 runs by losing 9 wickets in 18 overs. Sakib Shokit scored half century, whereas Sharaz and Sohil Shokit contributed with 16 and 15 runs respectively.
For GMC Jammu, Danish Bhat took 3 wickets, while Palabh and Abu Tallah scalped 2 wickets each.
In reply, GMC Jammu chased the target in 13.2 overs by losing only 2 wickets. Rizwan played a splendid inning of 51 runs, while Sawan made unbeaten 41 runs and Danish Bhat chipped in unbeaten 16 runs.
For GDC Mendhar, Rayaz Ahmed took 2 wickets.
In the second match, GDC Bhaderwah registered win over GDC Doda by 28 runs.
Batting first, GDC Bhaderwah scored 138 runs by losing 7 wickets in stipulated 18 overs. Ankesh scored 25 runs, while Sahil made 19 runs. Manjeet and Nazim chipped 13 runs each.
For GDC Doda, Ahatsham scalped 3 wickets, while Raza and Asif took one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, GDC Doda failed to chase the target and bundled out at 110 runs by losing 8 wickets in allotted 18 overs. Anzar made 33 runs, while Sankait and Ahatsham scored 16 and 15 runs respectively.
For GDC Bhaderwah, Anzar and Abu Tallah scalped 2 wickets each, while Ankesh took one wicket.
The matches were officiated by Vijay Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Raj Kumar and Sadiq Hussain as umpires, while the scoreboards were maintained by Vijay Kumar Raina.
