JAMMU, Nov 8: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua and SPMR College of Commerce scripted resounding victories over their rivals in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Hockey (Men) Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at the University Hockey Field, here.
In the first match, GDC Kathua defeated GDC Paloura by three goals to nil (3-0). Sumit Sharma (12th minute) and Harkirat Singh (15th and 45th minutes) scored the goals for Kathua team.
In another match, Govt SPMR College of Commerce drubbed GDC Poonch by three goals to one (3-1).
Balmeet Singh (2nd and 53rd minute) scored two goals for the Commerce College team and Dheeraj Singh (59th minute) scored the third goal. The only goal for Poonch team was scored by Ramandeep Singh in the 20th minute.
The matches were officiated by Motinderpal Singh, Jagjeet Singh Reen, Karanjeet Singh, Ranveet Singh, Harmeek Singh, Harvinderpal Singh and PD Singh.
Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu witnessed the matches and interacted with the participating players.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Jasbir Singh, Prof Kuldeep Sharma, Suman Lata, Satwant Singh Risam, Veena Chib, Ajaz Malik, Balbir Singh Chib, Pawan Singh Bhau, Sham Lal Sharma, Arjun Singh Chib and Jai Bharat.
